Garden Rosary Breakfast

We had such a beautiful and peace filled morning at our Garden Rosary Breakfast. We were blessed with abundant sunshine, chirping birds, perfect shaded areas, great company and of course delicious food! As you can see from the lovely photo of Our Lady of Lourdes, it was a morning full of blessings!

I also want to announce our first place winner in our Angel Story Contest! It was such fun reading through all of these wonderful stories! Our first place winner is Pearl Martino of Northboro, Mass. I plan on writing more but I want you to read her awesome story!!! Enjoy!

Here is it....
A couple of summer's ago I was at the beach in RI where I love to go and walk & pray. This particular day I had worn my jewelry to the beach rather than leaving it at home.I was sitting reading and then decided to take my walk, get my feet wet and cool down. I took my 3 rings off and put them in my lap as I applied more sunscreen. (You already know what comes next I bet!)I stood up and began to walk away from my chair(not getting too far away ). I repositioned my watch and braclet on either wrist and went to reposition my rings ( a little habit I have) and much to my dismay - no rings!!!!!!I turned right around in an absolute panick and thought I retraced my steps - but no rings were to be found. The weight of them had made them sink into the sand already! I started to cry and pray to St. Anthony, the Blessed Mother, Jesus and all the angels and the saints out loud. No one on the beach around where I was sitting seemed to notice what I was doing.All of a sudden, out of the corner of my eye was a middle-aged man with a metal-detector scanning the beach for lost metal articles.Now, what were the chances that that man would be on that same beach the day that I lost my rings. Divine intervention I would say!Our eyes met and he asked me what happened. I explained and he very calmly went to my beach chair and within a few seconds ( which seemed like an hour to me) found the rings.Again, I started to cry. I had gone to the beach with just my car keys and license - I had no money with me. I explained I didn't have any money but could I please have his name and address and I would be more than happy to send him a reward for what he did for me. He said "no need ma'am, the look on your face and your tears of joy is my reward". I hugged him and blessed him as he began to walk away from me. It seemed like he was gone as quickly as he showed up. I had to sit down for awhile before I could take my walk as my whole body shook with relief and joy. My husband & I were about to celebrate our 35 wedding anniversary and the thought of not having my sentimental jewelry was more than I could bear. But fear not - there they were safe and sound back on my fingers again. Great Story!!!!

I'll be back....

HAVE YOU HAD AN ANGEL CONNECTION?

I'm so excited to know that I've had well over 500 people reading my newly created blog. It is amazing to realize that people have clicked on from across the world!

We've covered territory from the east coast to the west coast, on to Canada, England, Germany, Sweden, Australia, Argentina, China, Japan, Indonesia, Hawaii, Taiwan, Singapore, India, Columbia, Brazil...the list goes on and on. What a wonderful way to spread God's love, faith and hope! Thanks for clicking on!

SHARING ANGEL STORIES...A BEAUTIFUL WAY TO SEND PEACE, COMFORT AND HOPE AROUND THE WORLD! JOIN US AND KEEP THE CONNECTION GOING...
Recently, I've had many requests by viewers and regular customers of The Angel Connection to set up a site where angel stories can be shared. I've decided to do something with a fun little twist. I'm holding a contest with entry deadline date of August 15th. Here we'll share unique and true angel stories of special encounters with God's heavenly messengers.

If your story is chosen for publication, you will be awarded 10% off your next purchase at The Angel Connection. I am in the process of adding inventory to my web-site which will be available for purchase very soon. Unique gifts, angel jewelry, bracelets, medals, earrings, fluffy scented angel dolls, angel sun catchers and a full line of religious articles for you to choose from will be available on line through Paypal.

AND SO IT GOES...
Many of us have had heavenly encounters that have touched us deeply but are kept tucked away in the silence of our hearts for one reason or another. Such joy is created when we truly realize that heavenly messengers exist and have been put on this earth for our own sake. Think about the Angel of God Prayer and its meaning and recite it often...
Angel of God, my guardian dear (Yes, you do have a guardian angel!)
To Whom God's love commits me here (God's love makes this possible)
Ever this day be at my side ( Our guardian is by our side every moment)
To light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen (Bringing God's light, guidance &
protection)

~~~~~~~~~~
Scripture tells us that the holy angels harken to the word of God. Angels are God's messengers. They come to help people through times of pain, suffering or hardship bringing words of encouragement and hope. They never mean to bring attention to themselves. As a matter of fact, they are known to do what they are sent to do and then suddenly disappear rather than wait around to be thanked. Their purpose is to always direct thanks to God.
If you decide this is for you, take a few moments and search your heart for a story you'd like to share. Please send your writing to my personal email address at Faithful1111@aol.com. Limit your length to one page please, if possible. I'll be accepting entries until August 15th and then announce the first place winner the following week. I'll be looking forward to hearing from you!
Until then, May God's holy angels surround you with love, joy, hope and protection!
Blessings to you!
Marge
Women's Rosary Breakfast On The Road...
The Angel Connection's Women's Rosary Breakfast was held at St. Anne's in Shrewsbury for the month of July. We were invited by the parish to open our breakfast up to the public this month which turned out to be a great blessing! Women from various parishes gathered together in faith and shared a wonderful morning full of hope and inspiration (not to mention the delicious breakfast)!
The Angel Connection has been booked by St. Anne's Parish to hold another breakfast, this time for their own expanding parish which has recently merged with St. Margaret Mary Parish in Worcester, Mass. The breakfast has been scheduled for October 4th in honor of Our Blessed Mother. This is also the first Saturday of the month which makes it an extra special blessing as we follow the requests of Our Lady at Fatima.
We, at The Angel Connection enjoy meeting and serving all who call upon us. If you would like to schedule an event, please feel free to call or email me and I will get right back to you with available dates! I have been told that the Rosary Breakfasts are a nice way to promote a sense of community amongst many who are searching or adjusting to recent changes in their lives. It's a comfort to many to know that we are never alone.
Gathering together in faith to pray the rosary is one of the most hopeful gifts we have available to us...at our fingertips! There is a beautiful saying I heard at a Marian function that I will forever fondly recall..."Praying the rosary is like holding the hands of Our Blessed Mother and pleading to her to bring our prayers to her Son. He has a hard time refusing His mother..."
Come and join us for a morning full of renewed hope and inspiration! You may email me with any comments or questions in regard to upcoming events, workshops and retreats. Also,begining in the month of September, with each rosary breakfast will be a beautiful display of inventory from my victorian shop. People love to begin their holiday shopping around this time and we will have Christmas rosaries, Rosary bracelets, inspirational and angelic jewelry, devotional items, scented angel dolls and so much more!
Always watching over you....
Until next time, may God's holy angels surround you with love, peace and joy!
In faith, hope & love,
Marge
The Value of Making Time To Retreat!
Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes
Franciscan Monastery - Kennebunk, Maine
Feast of St. Anthony - June 13-15, 2008
I'd like to begin this writing with a beautiful quote found in my journal of Everyday Blessings...
"As quiet water reflects the sky, a quiet heart reflects the peace of God."
Isn't it sometimes an unbelievable struggle to get away from the rush of routines? I'd say its more of a battle because the evil one will do whatever he can to set up roadblocks to our experiencing any kind of peace that the Lord has to offer us in this beautiful world He created. As a matter of fact, once you even entertain the idea of going on a spiritual retreat, you will find many problems popping up quite unexpectedly! This is where you need to fight the good fight. Pray whole heartedly to confirm that God is calling you, and if so...just go!
When we make time for a retreat we are not just making time for ourselves as most of us think, but we are rather allowing time for God to work in our lives. God speaks to us in the silence of our hearts. He calls to us through scripture ; "Come to Me all you who are burdened and I will give you rest". Once you are on retreat, you will be amazed at the clarity of your thoughts, the depth of your reflections and the renewed hope in your heart and spirit.
Women's Weekend Retreat
Held June 13-15, 2008
It was quite the blessing to be able to run a Women's Weekend Retreat recently held on the Feast of St. Anthony, the miracle worker! Our destination was Kennebunkport, Maine - a lovely ocean resort area which houses The Franciscan Monestary and St. Anthony's Shrine. Oh God sure is good indeed! The focus of this women's retreat was to refresh and renew...and that we did! Each day began & ended with prayer and the gift of holy scripture graced each moment. Upon arrival, each woman was escorted to their private room where they found a welcome gift wrapped in ribbons with dove chocolates delicately placed upon their pillows Also included was a scrolled scripture reading meant for personal reflection & discernment during the retreat. Each person was excited to find that their personal scripture spoke loudly to thier present situations in life...but then again, we know that's how the Holy Spirit works in our lives.
Our retreat opened with dinner by the sea where baked stuffed sole was served filled with crabmeat stuffing! This was followed by fettucini alfredo, a delightful salad with hot crusty bread and a scrumptious dessert. Yum, yum! After dinner, we attended the Franciscan Monastery's Feast Celebration of St. Anthony with rosary, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction. Needless to say...the peace of Christ filled the air and soaked our spirits
On Saturday morning we rose early for a beautiful Mass and returned to the Retreat House for a Victorian Rosary Breakfast. Why is it called a Victorian Breakfast you ask? The answer is because of the time and care taken in preparation of food and making those in attendance feel extra special as we all deserve but seem to forget. Those of you who've attended before can guess what we enjoyed for our meal...Ham & Cheese Strata, French Toast Souffle, Sausage, Hash Browns, Fresh Fruit Salad and delicious muffins! This and the Rosary prepared us for our busiest day of discovering the beautiful gifts all around us provided by our Creator!
First a full tour of the Monastery grounds, indoor chapels, outdoor chapels, history, and the breathtaking stroll through the flowered gardens of the monastery which leads to the peaceful harbor on the ocean. A sure sight for sore and tired eyes!
Next was a box lunch and a nature walk on one of the most beautiful beaches in Maine. After a short rest and some free time, we visited the famous Dock Square filled with shops and various sights. We enjoyed a late dinner, (Chicken Paramgiana with Penne Pasta) and continued on with our spiritual exercises of surrender, trust and faith in God who leads us to the way of peace, love and joy in our lives.
Sunday morning greeted us with more exuberant sunshine and a day full of God's blessings! After a nice breakfast, peaceful mass and final sharing, our retreat was coming to a close. As the women tell me, it was tough to pack up and leave at noon but they assured me that they were leaving full of peace and a renewed sense of hope in their daily lives.
Thanks be to God, His angels & saints for a refreshing retreat! Saint Anthony is the Saint of Miracles who whispers our petitions into the sweet infant ears of Jesus. He was with us and heard our prayers....so expect a miracle!
Hope you can join us next time! Until then...angels all around you!
In Faith, Hope & Love,
Marge
The Value of Life in Every Moment - Don't Miss It!
*This brings us to the Nursing Home. I volunteer once a month at a nursing home, serving as a Eucharistic Minister where I have the supreme honor of bringing Jesus to these beautiful but lonely souls. I knew when I chose this type of ministry that it would require some bravery on my part due to the soft spot I have for the elderly. It breaks my heart to see them failing and so alone. It amazes me each time I visit, the grace I come away with. It touches my heart to the depths of my being and I'm left questioning the motives of family members. I realize that we are all in different life situations, but how can we just forget about those we love and of those who have loved us so dearly? Why are so many left alone? No time for them? As I view the photo's strewn about the space they now call home, my heart breaks with all the memories they are trying to hold onto. I wonder how much of themselves they gave to their own families in their days of health? I would go to my own mother and aske these questions and she would tell me what her mother used to say..."One mother can take care of seven children, but seven children cannot take care of one mother." How's that for an eye opener?
My parents sacrificed as newlyweds by leaving their home and moving into my grand-parents home to help my grandmother care for my mother's ailing father. Her father had a stroke and suffered brain damage resulting in extra care. My grandmother was diabetic and could not handle him on her own. This went on for four years until the eve of my birth when my grandfather passed away. I can only imagine the struggles my Mom went through, but somehow I knew this has made me more sensitive to these types of situations.
When it came time for me to visit the Alzheimer ward on my day at the Nursing Home, my heart became the heaviest. I prayed that Jesus would give me the grace and strength to bear it. With a lump in my throat, I walked from room to room, through the activity centers bringing Jesus to those ready and able to receive Him. I entered a room where two elderly women resided. But, only one was listed to receive the Eucharist. I read the chart...wait...the other woman is catholic, why can't she receive? I was told that she was not coherent enough to receive and should only receive a blessing. I walked over to the incoherrent woman whose head was hanging down almost into her lap. I made the sign of the cross on her forehead and something came over me at that moment. I knelt down on my knees, cupped my hands around her cheeks and prayed out loud, "Dear Jesus, please touch this beautiful woman today and let her feel Your love in her heart. Please bring her peace and hope." Just then, this supposedly incoherent woman reached for my hand with her head still hanging down. I held her hand in mine. It was a tiny, fragile, bone ridden hand with such a gentle touch. I knelt down and she lifted her head to meet my eyes and I gasped! I saw the eyes of Christ staring back at me...firey, deep blue! I truly felt the connection. There He was, right in front of me, holding my hand, gazing at me with Those Eyes! We can see Christ through all people. He lives in all of us every moment, if we only take the time to see.
Is there someone you've been meaning to visit? Let's pray to God that we all treasure those we love while we have them on this earth. God Bless!
Angels All Around Us!
I'd like to share an inspiration that I came across this morning. It's a beautiful spiritual sung to the tune of Tallis's Canon C.1510-1583. The text was written by Ruth Duck in 1947 who is a professor of worship amongst all other things.
It is a strong beckoning for peace in a world who needs to tune in (no pun intended) before we are all lost. It leads us to reach out to others and urges us to realize that God has allowed His holy angels upon the earth to help us connect with one another. We can each do our small part to make this a better place, a more peaceful and joyful place to live.
Call your angel by your side as you read this and ask them to show you how to be that "bridge of care - connecting people everywhere"! There are angels all around us always! Here it is...Take your time and enjoy!
DIVERSE IN CULTURE, NATION, RACE
Diverse in culture, nation, race
We come together by Your grace.
God let us be a meeting ground,
where hope and healing love are found.
God let us be a bridge of care,
connecting people everywhere.
Help us confront all fear and hate
and lust for power that separate.
When chasims widen, storms arise, Oh
Holy Spirit make us wise.
Let our resolve like steel be strong, to
stand with those who suffer wrong.
God, let us be a table spread, with gifts of love
and broken bread. Where all find welcome,
grace attends, and enemies arise as friends...
"Be the light in the dark place...Affect them, don't let them infect you!"
True Angel Story of The Month...
Now what does a little old man and sweet potatoes have in common? There are many times throughout the day that we unconsciously overlook blessings that God sends our way.
I hope this story gives you some inspiration for the day... +
On this particular day, I was bombarded with things to get done and feeling stretched to the limit. Ever been there? What I really wanted to do was curl up with a nice warm blanket and take a nap. My Mom who is approaching 80 years old needed to do her food shopping that was long overdue, so I gladly took her.
As we were moving through the fruits and vegetable section, I noticed a little old man who must have been at least 90, making his way over ever so gingerly to my Mom and asked her, "Could you tell me where the sweet potoatoes are please?" My Mom pointed toward me and as I looked down, there they were. He slowly shuffled over to me and said, "Are these the sweet potatoes?" As I replied , "Yes" - He suddenly started breathing fast and heavy and the color went right out of him! I said, "Sir, are you ok?" With a panicked look on his face he said, "Oh dear God, I hope so, I can't seem to catch my breath!" I told him I was going to call for help and he begged me not to...to just give him a minute.
So...I automatically started to rub his back around the shoulders and said to him, "Let's pray." I prayed out loud, "Oh Lord, please help this beautiful man to catch his breath and be well. He looked in my eyes with a strange intensity...The color returned in his skin. He put a smile on his face and said, " Ok, ok, I feel better now." Then he said, "God Bless you...you are such a nice lady for helping me. No one has ever stopped to help me like this before...Oh God Bless you." I told him I was glad he was alright. He then moved forward toward me and grabbed one of my shoulders and looked behind me, he grabbed the other shoulder, looked behind me and then completely turned me around. I said, "Sir, hey...what are you doing!?" He said, "I'm looking for your wings, cause I know you have to be an angel!!! He brought tears to my eyes with his sweet words. My mother stood in amazement. I walked over to her to say, "Can you believe that guy?"...We both turned around only seconds later to glance back at him and he was no where to be found!!!
We hurriedly looked up and down the aisles yelling, "Where did he go?" Believe me, this little old man could not have possibly moved that fast! Now WHO was the angel? What a sweet blessing that was... and simply because God gave me the opportunity to reach out and help someone, and I took it.
Aaah...you think that's the end of the story? Nope. When I got home, still in amazement of the event, I was putting my canned goods away and noticed that there were 2 cans of sweet potatoes staring me in the face! What? Sweet potatoes? I jumped back because I have never either purchased, cooked or eaten a sweet potatoe in my life! Oh God is so good! I leave those cans on the shelf, front and center and each time I open the cabinet door, I smile!!
The Power In Your Words!
Hello to All!
In a nutshell, the topic of yesterday's rosary breakfast covered the power in the words we speak out loud! We can either move ourselves forward or continue to stay in the same situation for days, months or even years. It is up to us how long we stay by choosing to focus and speak either on the negative or the positive.
When we are frustrated with the situation we are in, and run out of patience we usually give voice to our frustrating emotions. Come on...think about it for a second. Some of the words we might speak would be; "I'll never get out of this mess!", OR "I don't have the means to accomplish my goals!", OR better still, "I will never get ahead of the game!". Sound familiar? Sure it does, because we all do it at one time or another. But, from this point on, make a decision to throw all the negative comments out the window and usher in the positive. It's your choice.
One of my favorite authors is inspirational speaker, Joyce Meyers. She wrote the best seller called Battlefield of the Mind. If you haven't read it, get it! It's one of the most power tools you can use to help you remove the obstacles in your life to help set you free of them once and for all! This book is filled with God's powerful Word, healing scriptures, spiritual weapons and positivity! Joyce reminds us to "think about what you are thinking about" because we give life to our words through our thoughts.
In closing, I'd like to give you some helpful tips on how to have a joyful and spirit filled day. First, call the Holy Spirit to be with you upon waking in the morning. Watch how your day changes! Second, remember to call upon your guardian angel who has been given to you as a gift from God to guide you your whole lives through. Did you know that in the bible it is written that the holy angels harken to the word of God? As they hear you praying for God's help, they immediately intercede on your behalf and bring your requests to the throne of God. Powerful, huh? And, awesome I might add too! Lastly, (for now) another helpful tool is to leave notes, or even small signs around the house, work area or car that speak positive words to help remind you to remain positive when the going gets tough. Speak those positive words out loud and turn a negative situation into a positive one before you start to spiral down hill . Enjoy a day filled with hope and inspiration!
If you would like to post a positive comment or even have a question, please feel free to post! May God's holy angels keep you surrounded with love, hope, joy and protection!
God Bless! Marge
Welcome To The Angel Connection
Welcome! My name is Marge Oliveri and I am the owner of The Angel Connection.
The Angel Connection is a spiritual lay ministry directed at providing hope to all who are drawn. I believe in miracles, the power of prayer, the meaning of hope, the grace of faith, and most of all love. In a world filled with such darkness, it is our goal to learn how to focus on God's healing light and have JOY as our focus so that we may shine a bright path for those who yet cannot see. There is always hope where faith presides. Join me in the celebration of life!
Let's make a difference...
